BE STRONG, OKAY?
Vedder Cornell
What are your pronouns?
He / him me, baby. What do you draw with?
Mostly on an old, refurbished iPad Pro with procreate for digital work. Also in composition notebooks with a fancy mechanical pencil I found. When I can afford it, I also very much like gouache paint and ink, pens like the pilot pocket brush pen and Pigma Micron pens, and my favorite sketchbooks are Canson Mix Media and the Crescent Rendr no show thru sketchbooks. The Uni Boxy eraser is also my go-to eraser - but they get weird and sticky if you don’t use them enough. You can still use them, tho.How old are you?
31. It’s that cool age where boomers and gen x still treat you like a child but gen z and gen alpha treat you like you’re decrepit. Is Vedder Cornell your real name?
Nah. It’s actually Vedwarðzine Cornholioson. Kidding. But yes, it is. Blame my families undying, ridiculous, over the top, generations-long hyper-fixations on music. My family has a deep connection to rock and roll. How do you identify?
The only labels I feel really connected to are vague: intersex and trans. I’m happiest not thinking about it, though. I get too caught up on labels. All I know is I like being seen as male - but also as gentle, maternal, kind and thoughtful. I am attracted to women but wouldn’t refuse to be with anyone solely based on their gender or their body alone. I feel inherently feminine in identity but with a strictly male shell - but those ways of being change as I grow and feminine men do exist, and not always in dresses. So I guess I am a person not set in stone. I try to go with the flow, y’know? How long have you been drawing?
Since the stereotypical amount of time. Once I was old enough to hold a pencil, yadda yadda yadda. That long. How can I support you?
So check it ooouuuttt: you can commission me, shop in my shops, send me tips, reblog my stuff, tell your friends about me, email Pearl Jam and tell them I should make them a concert poster - a whole bunch'a stuff. Lot’s of ways right here via this link. For commissions, email me at: [email protected] - my dm’s often get eaten on social media, but you are more than welcome to try to reach me that way.Favorite bands?
Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Eddie Vedder, RATM, Bam Bam, Jeff Aments, Thunderpussy, Mudhoney, 7 Year Bitch, Painted Shield, Brad, Manchester Orchestra, Audioslave, The Rockfords, Bully, Concrete Blonde, The Who, Regina Spektor, L7, The White Stripes, Ingrid Michaelson, The Raconteurs, Billie Eilish, Tophouse, SKÁLD, Rush, Mother Love Bone, Screaming Trees, Babes in Toyland, Mad Season, Alice In Chains, Julia Nunes, Godsmack, Lauren O'Connell, Laura Marling, Bikini Kill, Florence + the Machine, Billy Boy on Poison, Adrian Berenguer, Nirvana, Jerry Cantrell, Alan’s Morissette, Ásgeir and Olivia Jean.Favorite song?
Release by Pearl Jam. So much so, in fact, that I welcome in the New Year with it every single year and have for years now. It’s a great, peaceful song in sound and fraught in pain and still healing in meaning. That said, I'm probably more known for loving Bugs by Pearl Jam. The imagery that song inspires inside me is grand - which I don't think people expect from it.What instruments do you play?
I play poorly but I have a yellow Ibanez Artcore electric guitar and a few ukulele’s that I found second hand at random places - but I can also play piano and the recorder, too. That’s how I know I went to school in the 90s. Hot Cross Buns, y'know? I’m not very good at any and know next to nothing, but I pick shit up pretty quick. I want to learn to read sheet music, someday, and actually play consistently, too.Got a dream instrument?
I'd really like a 1992 Fender Telecaster, mainly because I'm obsessed with my birth year - but also a Kala KA-JTE Archtop (Tabacco Burst) Tenor Ukulele, an Ibanez M522S F-Style Mandolin and I hope to get my amma's baby grand piano back someday. All very handsome instruments. I will get my hands on that Fender Telecaster someday. I don't care if it's ugly, I just need it.
